Mumbai, Apr 22 (APAC Media): The Maharashtra government has approved special incentives for 18 Mega and Ultra-Mega projects with a combined investment of Rs. 2,56,137 crore. These projects aim to accelerate industrial growth and create over one lakh jobs across the state.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis cleared the proposals while chairing the 14th meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Industries. The projects span key sectors such as solar manufacturing, green steel, green ammonia, electronics, aerospace and defence, lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicles, and gas-to-chemical production. These sectors are seen as critical for building a future-ready and technology-driven industrial base.
The projects are expected to bring significant development to regions like Konkan, Vidarbha, and Marathwada, helping reduce regional imbalances. Apart from job creation, the investments are expected to boost research and development, strengthen supply chains, and support micro, small and medium enterprises. Skill development and training opportunities for local youth are also expected to improve employability.
Among the approved proposals, Essar Exploration and Production Ltd. will make the largest investment of Rs. 56,852 crore in Raigad district, with the potential to generate around 25,000 jobs.
