Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has partnered with The Circle: Founders Club (The Circle FC) to strengthen support for local startup firms aiming to expand into international markets.
The collaboration was formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed during the Startup Mahakumbh event, in the presence of Anurag Yadav, Principal Secretary, Department of IT and Electronics, Uttar Pradesh Government.
Focus on Structured Acceleration and Global Reach
The agreement falls under the state’s flagship initiative, Start-in UP, and aims to equip entrepreneurs with structured acceleration programs, access to international networks, and domain-specific mentorship. It signals a strategic shift in the state’s approach to building a more globally connected startup ecosystem.
According to Ravi Ranjan, IAS, Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Electronics Corporation (UPECL), the partnership is intended to help startups move beyond domestic limitations by leveraging global platforms. He said the initiative will help local businesses prepare for expansion and foster cross-border collaborations.
Support for Deeptech and Innovation-Focused Startups
The Circle FC, which runs various global accelerator programs, will work closely with state-backed startups in emerging sectors, especially deeptech. “Uttar Pradesh is showing early signs of becoming a hub for tech-led innovation,” said Nemesisa Ujjain, Vice President and Head of The Circle FC.
By aligning with the state’s startup policy, the initiative will provide early-stage ventures with exposure to international investors and market access. The move is expected to facilitate knowledge exchange and build long-term innovation capacity within the state.
