Kohima: The Nagaland government has laid the foundation stone for nine Lighthouse School Complexes (LSCs) under the flagship Nagaland Education Project – The Lighthouse (NECTAR).
These nine LSCs are earmarked for Chumoukedima, Phek, Kiphire, Zunheboto, Shamator, Noklak, Longleng, Mokokchung and Dimapur districts in Nagaland.
Earlier on 24 December, the foundation stones were laid for seven LSCs in Mon, Kohima, Niuland, Peren, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Wokha.
Under the NECTAR project, one LSC will be developed in the 16 districts of Nagaland. The total cost for the construction of the 16 LSCs is estimated at Rs 198.57 crore.
These LSCs are being funded by the World Bank. They are envisioned as model schools with all facilities required to function as hubs of academic excellence.
The Department of Education and the NECTAR team will aim to transform classrooms and teaching methods and the entire ecosystem of schools in Nagaland.
