New Delhi: KPIT Technologies and JSW Motors have entered a strategic partnership to develop software-defined and electric vehicle platforms for the Indian market.
JSW Motors, the automotive arm of the JSW Group, has formalised a partnership with KPIT Technologies to accelerate the development of electric and hybrid vehicles in India. The collaboration focuses on software-defined vehicle (SDV) architectures, battery management systems, and electric propulsion technologies.
KPIT will establish a dedicated Centre of Excellence for JSW Motors to provide advanced software and systems engineering support. The company brings experience from over 2,000 global vehicle programs, including several SDV platforms. This technical capability is expected to complement JSW’s manufacturing plans as the company prepares to launch its first New Energy Vehicle (NEV) by the second half of FY2026.
JSW Motors is investing $3 billion over the next five years in its automotive venture, with plans to manufacture electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The company is developing a 630-acre automotive hub in Bidkin, Maharashtra, to serve as its central production and R&D facility.
The partnership reflects a broader trend in the Indian automotive industry, where manufacturers are increasingly integrating software-driven capabilities to meet evolving regulatory and consumer demands.
Executives from both companies have emphasised the importance of combining global best practices with local execution to support India’s transition to clean mobility. While KPIT will focus on enabling software integration and continuous feature upgrades, JSW will lead vehicle development and assembly.
This collaboration signals a growing alignment between traditional manufacturers and technology providers as India’s EV ecosystem evolves.
