Mumbai: In a major push toward climate resilience and sustainable water management, Neev II Fund, managed by SBI Ventures Ltd., a subsidiary of the State Bank of India Group, has announced a strategic investment in RETAS Enviro Solutions Pvt. Ltd. to boost India’s water sustainability efforts through rainwater harvesting.Â
Innovative Solutions for a Growing Water Crisis
India faces a serious water crisis, with only 4% of the world’s freshwater resources to support 18% of the global population. The Central Water Commission (CWC) estimates that the country receives about 4,000 billion cubic meters of rainfall annually, but due to inadequate infrastructure, only about 8% is effectively captured.
RETAS has developed a patented box-structured Rainmaxx tank, made from 100% recycled polypropylene, to address this issue. These modular tanks can be installed underground to capture and store surface rainwater. They also enable controlled groundwater recharge and support the on-site reuse of collected water. RETAS’s systems are being widely adopted in roads, highways, industrial zones, commercial spaces, and public infrastructure projects.
RETAS’s Role
As part of this investment, RETAS plans to make rainwater harvesting a mainstream solution across India. The company aims to empower communities and industries to manage water sustainably, reduce dependency on stressed groundwater sources, and build long-term resilience to flooding and climate change.Â
The investment supports the growing national focus on climate adaptation and water sustainability.
