New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the appointment of IPS J. Elanchezhian as Deputy Inspector General in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).Â
Elanchezhian, a 2010-batch officer of the Punjab cadre, will serve in the post for an initial term of five years from the day he takes charge or until further orders, whichever comes first.
Elanchezhian has over a decade of experience in policing and administration. While the CBI has not revealed his specific posting, DIGs in the agency typically lead investigations into major crimes, corruption, economic offences, or special operations. Elanchezhian’s induction is expected to bolster the agency’s capacity in handling sensitive and complex cases.
The CBI works closely with state police forces and international counterparts, and Elanchezhian’s appointment is seen as a move to further enhance its operational strength in tackling high-profile investigations.
