Chandigarh: In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Punjab government has transferred 22 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. As per the official order, IAS Vikas Pratap (1994 batch) has been appointed Additional Chief Secretary in the Social Security, Women, and Child Development Department.
Other notable transfers include
- IAS Sumer Singh Gurjar (1998 batch), currently Principal Secretary, Election, will now also hold the additional charge of Financial Commissioner, Cooperation.
- IAS Mohammad Tayyab (2007 batch), previously awaiting posting, has been made Secretary, Jails.
- IAS Gurpreet Singh Khaira (2009 batch), previously serving as Secretary, Secretary and Director, Local Government, has been transferred and posted as Secretary, Justice.
- IAS Sandeep Hans (2010 batch), currently Director, Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, has been posted as Managing Director, Department of Industries and Commerce, with an additional charge of Punjab INFOTECH.
- IAS Girish Dayalan (2011 batch), currently Registrar, Cooperative Societies, has been given additional charge as the Managing Director, Punjab State Cooperative Bank Ltd.
- IAS Kulwant Singh (2012 batch), Deputy Commissioner of Mansa, has been appointed as Director of Local Government.
- IAS Baldeep Kaur (2012 batch), Special Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Director, Colonization.
- IAS Showkat Ahmad Parray (2013 batch), Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda, has been made Special Secretary, Finance, and in addition, Chief Executive Officer of the Punjab Waqf Board.
These transfers are part of the state government’s efforts to assign key roles of experienced officers.Â
