ACC Approves Redesignation of IAS Pavan Kumar Malapati and IES Karamjeet Kaur as Directors

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the redesignation of two officers from the 2012 batch of different services to the rank of Director. Accordingly, IAS Pavan Kumar Malapati from the Karnataka cadre, serving as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, has been redesignated as Director for a tenure extending up to June 17, 2030.

His central deputation will be effective from June 18, 2025.

Karamjeet Kaur, an Indian Economic Service (IES) officer, is presently posted as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Defence Production. Her position has been upgraded to the rank of Director in the same department. She will hold the post until November 22, 2029. Her central deputation tenure began on November 22, 2024.

The decision will take effect from January 1, 2026. The elevation of the two officers reflects the ACC’s efforts to acknowledge senior-level experience and performance in central services.
