Visakhapatnam:Â IASÂ Roshni Aparanji Korati has assumed charge as the Deputy Chairperson of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), marking a historic milestone.
She is the first woman IAS officer to take over the post since the port authority’s inception. A 2011 batch IAS officer of the Assam–Meghalaya cadre, Korati completed her education in Visakhapatnam.
Korati is a gold medalist in Mass Communication from Andhra University. She brings with her wide-ranging administrative experience across district, state, and central levels. She began her career as Additional Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat and later served as Collector and District Magistrate of Jorhat and Dhemaji districts in Assam, where she led several rural development and welfare initiatives.
She later worked as Secretary to the Government of Assam, handling key portfolios such as Elementary Education and serving as Mission Director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. She also held leadership roles as Agriculture Secretary and Project Director of the ARIAS Society.
Before joining the VPA, Korati was on central deputation as Joint Development Commissioner of the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone. A recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in 2018, she is widely recognised for her effective and people-focused public service.
