New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi placed traditional medicine at the centre of the global health dialogue with the launch of the Traditional Medicine Global Library (TMGL) at the Second WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine.
He said the digital platform fulfils a commitment made during India’s G20 presidency and will provide equal access to authentic, evidence-based information worldwide.
The TMGL brings together research, scientific data and policy documents from 194 countries, enabling safer integration of traditional systems into national health frameworks.
Modi said that the three-day summit reflected a convergence of tradition and technology and culminated in the Delhi Declaration. It offered a shared roadmap for safety, standards and training.
He also spoke about India’s leadership while highlighting the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar and the new WHO South-East Asia Regional Office in Delhi.
Modi also launched key Ayush initiatives and emphasised the role of traditional medicine in addressing lifestyle-related diseases.
