Kolkata: West Bengal will meet 20 per cent of its energy needs through renewable energy by 2030.
The state government is actively exploring integrated models that combine solar with other renewable resources like biomass and hybrid systems.
The government is focusing on making clean energy solutions more accessible and affordable for agricultural, residential and commercial consumers, informed Md Ghulam Rabbani, Minister, Non-conventional and renewable energy sources.
The electricity demand in West Bengal was projected to grow steadily by five per cent annually in the utility sector and 19 per cent in the captive segment, over the next two to three decades.
Renewable procurement is mandated to rise from 30 per cent to 50 per cent by 2030, with an ambitious target of 15 GW by 2026 and 25 GW by 2032.
