Kolkata: The West Bengal government is preparing to launch the construction of more than 9000 km of new rural roads under the Pathashree project.
This will be one of the largest rural infrastructure initiatives in India in recent years.
To emphasise transparency, the West Bengal government will install boards at the start and end of every newly-built road.
These boards will display the total project cost, the length of the road and the time taken to complete the construction.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate all roads centrally on a single day across all districts.
The DMs have been instructed to arrange block-wise inauguration ceremonies in every district.
