Jaipur: In an important administrative decision, the Rajasthan government has appointed retired IAS Vijay Pratap Singh as a member of the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The appointment order was issued by the state Energy Department after receiving approval from the Governor of Rajasthan.
As per the official notification, Singh will serve on the commission for a term of five years from the date he assumes charge or until he reaches the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. In his new role, he will be involved in key regulatory functions related to the power sector, including the determination of electricity tariffs, licensing of utilities, and promoting efficiency and transparency in electricity distribution across the state.
During his career in the Indian Administrative Service, Singh held several senior positions in the Rajasthan government and was known for his work in both administrative and public-facing departments. He served as Commissioner in the Tourism Department and the Department of Information and Public Relations, where he played a key role in policy planning and promoting Rajasthan’s tourism and cultural identity. Singh also held important corporate leadership roles as Managing Director of the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and the State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation, focusing on improving operations and service delivery.
In the area of urban governance, Singh served as Commissioner of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation and oversaw civic administration and urban development initiatives in the state capital. He also worked as Deputy Secretary to the Chief Minister and as Additional District Magistrate in Jaipur Second.
His overall administrative experience is expected to add value to the regulatory framework of Rajasthan’s power sector.
