Kolkata: The Election Commission has transferred the Chief Secretary and Home Secretary of West Bengal.
This took place late night following the announcement of the two phase Assembly election schedule in the state.
Dushyant Nariala, an IAS officer of the 1993 batch, has been directed to take up as Chief Secretary, West Bengal.
He replaces the current Chief Secretary Nandini Chakraborty.
The Election Model Code of Conduct took over yesterday once the election dates on April 23 and April 29 were announced.
The Election Commission is empowered to order the transfer of bureaucrats during the period of this model code of conduct.
Sanghamitra Ghosh, an IAS officer of the 1997 batch, has also been posted by EC as Principal Secretary, Home and Hill Affairs, Government of West Bengal.
She replaces Jagdish Prasad Meena who was the current Home Secretary.
