Dispur: Ahead of the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, the state government has carried out a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, appointing IAS officer Megha Nidhi Dahal as the new District Commissioner of Dhubri.
Dahal previously served as the Managing Director of the Assam Industrial Development Corporation and also held the additional charge of Commissioner of Industries and Commerce. He was also working as the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporate Social Responsibility Authority of Assam.
Over the years, Dahal has held several key administrative positions in the state. His earlier roles include serving as Commissioner of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation and Commissioner of the Transport Department.
The reshuffle is seen as part of the government’s broader move to strengthen administrative efficiency and ensure better governance at the district level. With the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly elections approaching, the state government appears to be focusing on placing experienced officers in important districts to streamline administration and improve coordination on the ground.
