Noida, May 26 (APAC Media): Gold and silver prices declined in domestic markets on Tuesday, tracking subdued international trends and persistent strength in the US dollar, according to bullion market indicators.
In key retail markets including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai, rates of both 24-karat and 22-karat gold registered a marginal fall compared to the previous session.
Silver also traded lower, reflecting broad-based weakness across precious metals.
Gold prices declined amid rising geopolitical tensions after the United States conducted fresh military strikes in southern Iran on Tuesday, describing the operation as an act of “self-defence”.
US officials said the strikes targeted missile launch facilities and boats allegedly involved in laying naval mines.
The development came even as President Donald Trump stated that negotiations with Iran were “proceeding nicely”, indicating ongoing diplomatic efforts despite the latest escalation.

Market participants attributed the decline to expectations of a prolonged high-interest-rate environment in the United States, which continues to pressure non-yielding assets such as gold. Elevated US bond yields and a firm dollar index further weighed on investor appetite for bullion.
Despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in certain regions that typically support safe-haven demand, sentiment remained cautious as investors focused on macroeconomic signals from the US Federal Reserve, particularly upcoming inflation data and policy commentary.

Analysts noted that domestic demand for gold remains relatively stable, supported by seasonal buying and retail interest.
However, the strength in global financial indicators has outweighed local support, keeping prices under pressure.
Silver mirrored the trend in gold, extending losses amid concerns over industrial demand and profit-taking after recent gains.
Traders said volatility in silver is expected to remain higher than gold due to its dual role as both a precious and industrial metal.
Market experts believe bullion prices may continue to trade in a narrow range in the near term, with movements largely driven by global macroeconomic data, currency fluctuations, and central bank policy cues.
Investors have been advised to maintain a cautious approach as volatility in international markets continues to influence domestic pricing trends.
