New Delhi, June 21 (APAC Media): The Centre has approved seven new bullet train corridors across the country. The expansion comes alongside the ongoing Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train project, which remains under construction.
The proposed corridors aim to connect major cities and sharply reduce travel time between key destinations.
Proposed bullet train routes and travel times
- Mumbai–Ahmedabad: 1 hour 57 minutes (under construction)
- Mumbai–Pune: 48 minutes
- Bengaluru–Chennai: 1 hour 13 minutes
- Bengaluru–Hyderabad: 2 hours 10 minutes
- Pune–Hyderabad: 2 hours 8 minutes
- Delhi–Lucknow: 2 hours
- Delhi–Varanasi: 3 hours 15 minutes
- Delhi–Siliguri: 6 hours
According to the government, these corridors are expected to significantly reduce travel time and boost economic activity.
However, no construction timeline has been announced yet. Each project will first undergo feasibility studies, approvals, funding arrangements, and land acquisition before construction begins.
