New Delhi, July 3 (APAC Media): The Delhi Government has launched ‘Delhi Next – Code, Create & Change’, a major civic-tech innovation programme aimed at developing technology-driven solutions for the capital’s urban challenges.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the initiative at the Delhi Secretariat, describing it as India’s largest civic-tech innovation platform.
The initiative brings together youth, startups, researchers, educational institutions, and innovators on a common platform.
Its goal is to develop practical, technology-driven solutions for real-life civic and urban challenges in Delhi.

Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said modern governance must go beyond policymaking and embrace technology, innovation, and public participation.
She described Delhi Next as more than just a hackathon, calling it a bridge between governance and innovation.
She said the programme will connect young innovators directly with government departments and enable their ideas to shape public services.
The Chief Minister added that youth should be treated as active partners in governance, not just spectators.

From this large pool of participants:
- 60 teams have been shortlisted
- They presented practical solutions to civic challenges
- Their ideas focus on improving urban infrastructure and public services
The initiative aims to harness youth-led innovation to strengthen governance and enhance citizen services in the national capital.
Participants developed solutions for several key urban challenges, including:
- Traffic management
- Waterlogging during monsoons
- Air pollution
- Smart parking
- Waste management
- Digital governance and citizen services
- Public grievance redressal
- Electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem development
The government said these innovations are expected to improve urban governance, enhance public services, and make life more convenient for citizens.
Unlike traditional hackathons, Delhi Next focuses on implementing ideas rather than just showcasing them.
Under the programme:
- Selected innovations will be tested as pilot projects
- Government departments will work with innovators
- Subject experts will mentor shortlisted teams
- Successful solutions will be scaled across the government system
The aim is to turn promising ideas into practical solutions that improve governance and public service delivery.
