Bhubaneswar, July 3 (APAC Media): The Odisha government on Friday signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with Japanese firm IHI Corporation and Gurugram-based ACME Group to strengthen collaboration in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and industrial development.
The agreement marks a major step in Odisha’s efforts to expand its industrial base and attract global investments.
The MoC signing took place during an ‘Interaction with Japanese Business Delegates,’ hosted by the Chief Minister’s Office. The event was attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, senior government officials, representatives from the World Bank Group, and members of the Japanese business community.
Rs. 67,000 crore investment to generate 7,000 jobs
According to the state government, the proposed projects will bring a cumulative investment of Rs. 67,000 crore and create employment opportunities for around 7,000 people across Odisha.
Key projects include a 0.4 MTPA green ammonia plant at Gopalpur–Tata SEZ with an investment of Rs. 20,000 crore, expected to generate 3,400 jobs. An additional Rs. 1,000 crore will be invested in jetty-less floating terminal infrastructure.
A larger 0.8 MTPA green ammonia project is planned at Paradeep with an investment of Rs. 34,000 crore and employment potential for 3,600 people. A methanol project with an investment of Rs. 12,000 crore has also been proposed.
Focus on future-ready sectors
Discussions highlighted opportunities in green hydrogen, green ammonia, aerospace, shipbuilding, steel, chemicals, logistics, and renewable energy. Chief Minister Majhi said the partnership would help build globally competitive industries and support Odisha’s long-term development vision.
