Noida, July 9 (APAC Media): The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched a major digital transformation initiative that brings provident fund records of subscribers onto a single centralised database, aimed at making services faster, more transparent and accessible across the country.
The upgraded system, called EPFO 2.0, integrates multiple databases into one platform and replaces the earlier structure where regional offices maintained separate records.
The move is expected to simplify account management for more than 34 crore members and improve the efficiency of claim processing.
Launching the initiative, Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the reform would strengthen the government’s vision of a technology-driven social security system.
“EPFO 2.0 marks a significant move towards delivering seamless, transparent and citizen-focused services to members. The new system will ensure that members get faster access to their provident fund-related services without procedural hurdles,” Mandaviya said.
Under the new platform, members will be able to access their provident fund balances, account details, claim status and pension-related information through a unified digital interface.

Officials said the centralised system will allow EPFO offices to process requests from anywhere in the country, reducing delays caused by regional limitations.
The upgraded system will also automate several key processes, including annual interest calculation and crediting. EPFO officials said automation would help members receive updated account information more quickly.
A senior EPFO official said the new technology platform was designed to reduce manual intervention and improve accuracy.
“The objective is to create a paperless and efficient system where services are delivered faster and members have greater control over their provident fund accounts,” the official said.
Another major feature of EPFO 2.0 is automated claim pre-validation. The system will identify errors, missing information and inconsistencies before claims are submitted, helping reduce rejection rates and delays.
The auto-settlement facility for eligible advance claims has also been expanded under the new framework. Subscribers with verified KYC details will benefit from quicker processing of withdrawal requests.
The digital upgrade will also simplify provident fund transfers for employees changing jobs. Eligible Aadhaar-linked accounts will be automatically transferred, reducing the need for separate applications.
For pensioners, the revamped system will provide easier access to services, including submission of life certificates and pension-related facilities through a centralised mechanism.
The EPFO said the overhaul is part of its broader effort to modernise India’s social security delivery system.
“Technology will play a key role in ensuring that every member receives timely and efficient services. EPFO 2.0 will bring greater convenience, transparency and reliability for subscribers,” the organisation said.
With the implementation of the new platform, EPFO aims to create a fully digital provident fund ecosystem that reduces paperwork, improves service standards and enhances the overall experience for workers and pensioners.
