Gold prices have remained volatile in recent sessions, influenced by developments in global markets, geopolitical tensions and changing investor sentiment.
Spot gold was down 0.5% at $4,391.77 an ounce by 0915 GMT, while U.S. gold futures for December delivery declined 0.6% to $4,447.30 an ounce.
Oil prices rose on expectations that the prolonged Middle East crisis could keep energy markets under pressure, raising concerns over inflation and reducing the appeal of non-yielding bullion.
Higher U.S. Treasury yields also weighed on gold, as rising yields increase the opportunity cost of holding the precious metal, which does not pay interest.

Precious metals have continued to attract attention amid uncertainty in international markets. Geopolitical developments, particularly tensions in the Middle East, remain among the factors being closely watched by market participants.
Gold prices can vary across cities due to local market conditions, demand and supply, as well as differences between individual jewellers. The rates quoted for gold also generally exclude additional costs such as making charges and applicable taxes.
The latest movement follows a period of fluctuations in domestic gold prices. On August 13, 24-carat gold was quoted at ₹15,513 per gram, while 22-carat and 18-carat gold were priced at ₹14,220 and ₹11,635 per gram, respectively.
Twenty-four-carat gold is considered the purest form of the metal commonly traded in the market, while 22-carat gold is widely used for jewellery. Eighteen-carat gold contains a higher proportion of alloyed metals and is also used in jewellery manufacturing.
Jewellery buyers are advised to check the prevailing rate with local jewellers before making a purchase, as the final price may differ from the quoted gold rate after the addition of making charges, taxes and other applicable costs.
Gold prices remain sensitive to international economic conditions and developments in financial markets, with investors continuing to monitor movements in global bullion prices and currency markets.
