New Delhi, 18 August (APAC Media): Â Anoop Kumar Rai has assumed charge as Director (Marketing) of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL)
Rai brings with him 34 years of experience in defence and niche technologies. Prior to this appointment, he served as Executive Director of BEL’s Central Research Laboratory (CRL), Ghaziabad, from 2025, following a distinguished tenure as Chief Scientist.
Rai spearheaded the development of ‘Saksham’, an AI-powered Drone Warfare System developed in collaboration with the Army Air Defence. He also contributed significantly to the conceptualisation of the AI-based Command Information & Decision Support System (CIDSS), AI-enabled predictive maintenance and anomaly detection under NMDA, and AI applications for Space Situational Awareness.
His leadership was instrumental in advanced technology initiatives under the IACCS Project, integrating S-400 and MRSAM systems. He also contributed to the deployment of battle-proven systems such as ‘Sanjay’ and ‘Akashteer’, which played an important role during Op Sindoor.
Beyond defence, he pioneered AI-driven civilian technologies, including India’s first indigenous Air Traffic Management Automation System for Bhubaneswar Airport, KAVACH 4.0, AI-assisted CIKMS (SURAKSHA), and SIL2-certified indigenous metro solutions developed with DMRC.
His appointment marks a significant addition to BEL’s leadership as the company strengthens its focus on indigenous technologies, innovation, and global market expansion.
