Internationally, spot gold came under pressure after recent US inflation data strengthened expectations that the Federal Reserve could maintain a tighter monetary policy for longer. Higher interest rates generally weigh on non-yielding assets such as gold by increasing the opportunity cost of holding bullion.
999 Silver Price
| City | 999 Silver |
|---|---|
| Delhi | ₹2,30,020/kg |
| Mumbai | ₹2,30,420/kg |
| Kolkata | ₹2,30,030/kg |
Spot gold was trading around $4,339 an ounce on Friday after recording losses earlier in the week, according to market reports.
Investors are now closely watching upcoming US economic indicators and central-bank policy signals for further direction. Developments in the geopolitical environment, movements in the US dollar and changes in bond yields are also expected to influence bullion prices.
Gold prices in India can vary across cities and retailers because of local taxes, transportation costs and other charges. Jewellery prices are also higher than quoted bullion rates because they include making charges and applicable taxes.
Market participants said volatility could remain elevated as investors balance demand for gold as a safe-haven asset against expectations for interest rates and movements in global financial markets.
