New Delhi, August 18(APAC Media): Uber has added train ticket booking to its app in India through a partnership with ixigo.
The new feature allows users to search and book train tickets, check PNR status and arrange Uber rides to and from railway stations. The move expands Uber’s intercity travel services beyond its existing cab and bus offerings.
Uber Train Booking
Users can now manage key parts of a train journey through the Uber app, from booking a ticket to arranging their first- and last-mile transport. The service uses ixigo’s train-booking technology for ticket reservations and post-booking services.
The partnership comes as rail travel continues to play a major role in India’s long-distance transportation network. Indian Railways carried 741 crore passengers in FY2025-26, according to the figures cited by Uber.
Focus On Railway Connectivity
Uber has also been expanding its presence around major railway stations through designated pickup and drop-off zones. The company said these facilities are already available at stations in cities including Ahmedabad, Secunderabad and Howrah, with more locations expected to be added.
For Uber, adding train ticketing brings another part of intercity travel onto its platform. For ixigo, the partnership extends its train-booking service into a wider mobility ecosystem.
The companies have not disclosed financial details of the partnership. The train booking feature is expected to give Uber users another option for planning rail journeys while keeping station transfers within the same app.
