New Delhi, August 18(APAC Media): Reliance Jio has relaunched its Prime membership in India at Rs 300, bringing back the programme ahead of the company’s 10th anniversary.
The new Jio Prime membership is different from the earlier Rs 99 offering. Instead of subsidised tariffs, Jio is now linking the membership to price protection and additional services. The company has said members will not face a tariff increase on their existing plans until September 5, 2027, even if Jio revises its prices during this period.
Jio Prime Price And Benefits
The Rs 300 membership is available to both new and existing Jio customers. Users can sign up through the MyJio app, Jio’s website, Jio stores and partner outlets.
Members will also get Rs 300 cashback when a new Jio SIM is added for a friend or family member. Other benefits include priority customer support, early access to new Jio products and services, trials and additional member-only offers.
Jio Keeps Rs 299 And Rs 239 Plans
Jio has also confirmed that its Rs 299 prepaid plan will continue with its existing benefits. The plan offers 1.5GB daily data, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day and 28 days of validity. It also includes JioHotstar and a Google Gemini Pro subscription with 5TB storage.
The Rs 239 prepaid plan remains Jio’s lowest-priced option. It offers similar benefits but comes with a shorter 23-day validity.
Jio Prime Comes As Tariff Hike Looms
The timing of the relaunch is significant as India’s telecom sector is heading towards another round of tariff revisions. Airtel, Vi and Jio are expected to review prepaid prices in the coming months, with reports pointing to possible increases of up to 15%.
Jio Prime therefore gives customers a way to lock in their current tariff for a year, while the company continues to retain some of its lower-cost prepaid options.
