Chennai, August 13(APAC Media): L&T is building an AI factory in Chennai for US-based AI company Together AI.
L&T’s data centre business, Vyoma.AI, has secured an order to develop a large-scale AI infrastructure cluster using Nvidia’s B300 GPUs for Together AI. The project is valued at around ₹10,000-15,000 crore, making it one of the largest announced AI infrastructure deployments in India.
Nvidia B300 AI Factory In Chennai
The AI factory will be developed at Vyoma’s Chennai data centre campus and will support AI training, fine-tuning and inference workloads. The facility is planned with capacity for 10,000 Nvidia B300 GPUs and will use high-performance networking, storage and low-latency interconnects.
The Chennai campus is being developed as a gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure site. Its first phase is designed for 250 MW, with 150 MVA of power infrastructure already planned, allowing the site to support further AI capacity.
L&T Expands AI Infrastructure Business
The project comes shortly after L&T agreed to transfer its data centre and cloud services business to Vyoma.AI for ₹1,400 crore. The company is positioning the business around the growing demand for computing infrastructure needed to run large AI models.
Together AI provides infrastructure for companies looking to train and run AI models, including open models such as DeepSeek, MiniMax and Kimi. The San Francisco-based company was last valued at about $8.3 billion in July and has also entered into a $240-million multi-year agreement with IBM for an AI cluster on IBM Cloud using Nvidia systems.
The Chennai deployment adds another major AI infrastructure project to Together AI’s growing network as demand for high-performance computing continues to increase.
