Noida, Aug 13 (APAC Media): Essar Group’s IT firm Black Box reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 56 crore for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, an 18 per cent increase from Rs 47 crore recorded in the year-ago period.
Black Box’s EBITDA rose 38 per cent to Rs 60 crore in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, compared with Rs 116 crore in the year-ago period.
The company’s revenue from operations increased 24 per cent to Rs 1,719 crore in the first quarter of financial year 2027, from Rs 1,387 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
“We have entered FY27 with strong momentum, delivering our highest-ever quarterly revenue of ₹1,719 crore, up 24 per cent year-on-year, driven by improved execution of our expanding backlog and the contribution from our recently acquired Brazilian business, 2S. Strong order bookings of US$339 million lifted our backlog to an all-time high of US$949 million, providing greater visibility and a strong foundation for sustained growth.
“Black Box today operates from a fundamentally stronger platform. Our growing participation in AI-led digital infrastructure, expanding hyperscaler relationships and deep presence across approximately 300 strategic enterprise accounts give us significant headroom to scale. Our priority is to convert this opportunity into disciplined, profitable growth as we build towards our ambition of becoming a US$2 billion revenue company by FY30,†said Sanjeev Verma, CEO.

Larger, Longer-Duration Order Book
Black Box received new orders worth approximately US$339 million (around Rs 3,208 crore) during the quarter, taking its order backlog to an all-time high of about US$949 million (around Rs 8,986 crore), an 83 per cent year-on-year increase.
The backlog has nearly doubled from its historical range of US$450-500 million, driven by greater participation in large, multi-year and mission-critical programmes. Project-led backlog grew around 50 per cent sequentially, with longer-duration engagements providing 24-36 months of revenue visibility.
The company expects order bookings of US$1.3-1.5 billion in FY27, representing growth of around 32-45 per cent over FY26. It expects to exit FY27 with an order backlog of US$1.3-1.4 billion, up around 65-75 per cent year-on-year.
Broad-Based Demand
Demand remained broad-based beyond hyperscalers, with financial services, healthcare, public services and retail contributing approximately US$80 million (around Rs 757 crore) to quarterly order bookings.
Key wins included a large US connectivity infrastructure and networking project with one of the world’s largest chip manufacturers, workplace solutions and connectivity engagement with a leading discount retailer, and significant orders from a US state government and a leading healthcare provider.
Scaling Execution Capabilities
Black Box is strengthening its leadership, sales, engineering and delivery capabilities as digital infrastructure projects grow in size and complexity. The company plans to hire nearly 3,000 professionals by FY30, primarily in the US, to expand delivery capacity and support larger and more complex programmes.
