New Delhi, August 27(APAC Media): Yamaha has launched the YZF-R2 in India at a starting price of Rs 2.30 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new motorcycle sits above the R15 in Yamaha’s Indian lineup and marks the company’s entry into the 200cc supersport segment. India is also the first market to receive the new YZF-R2, with deliveries scheduled to begin from September 2026.
Yamaha R2 Price And Variants
The Yamaha YZF-R2 is available in three variants. The base version costs Rs 2,30,500, while the quick-shifter variant is priced at Rs 2,39,500. The top-spec YZF-R2 M costs Rs 2,53,000. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
The motorcycle is offered in five colours, including Metallic Black, Dark Bluish Gray, Matte White Pearl, Racing Blue and Metallic Gray. The latter is exclusive to the R2 M variant.
Yamaha R2 Engine And Specifications
The YZF-R2 gets a newly developed 204cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 26.5bhp and 19.1Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and an Assist & Slipper Clutch.
Yamaha has also focused on keeping the motorcycle light. The R2 has a kerb weight of 149kg and uses a new high-tensile steel tube diamond frame. The motorcycle gets 37mm upside-down front forks, a rear monoshock, 17-inch wheels, dual-channel ABS and traction control.
Yamaha R2 Features And Rivals
The higher variants add a bi-directional quick shifter, while the R2 M gets adjustable suspension and levers. The bike also features Yamaha Ride Control with Street, Sport and Rain modes, along with a 5-inch colour TFT display.
With prices starting at around Rs 2.30 lakh, the Yamaha YZF-R2 enters a segment that includes motorcycles such as the KTM RC 200 and Hero Karizma XMR.
