New Delhi: The Centre just saw a top level administrative shuffle with 15 IAS offices being cleared for new postings and three more being promoted to special secretary.
Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officers S Krishnan of the 1989-batch and Neeraj Mittal of the 1992-batch, have been appointed secretary of the electronics and information technology ministry (MeitY) and Department of Telecommunications respectively.
Krishnan has served as the chief executive officer of the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Board, and finance secretary for Tamil Nadu. Mittal, in the past, has served as Principal Secretary, Information Technology Department, Tamil Nadu, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and the Managing Director and CEO of Guidance Tamil Nadu.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) appointed the following IAS officers to senior positions:
- 1992-batch IAS officer Vumlunmang Vualnam has been appointed as the civil aviation secretary, replacing IAS officer Rajiv Bansal of Nagaland cadre upon his superannuation.
- Shashi Ranjan Kumar IAS officer of the Tripura cadre from the 1992-batch, is now the next secretary of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
- Nidhi Khare IAS officer of the Jharkhand cadre, additional secretary in the consumer affairs, Food and Public Distribution Department, has been promoted as a special secretary. Khare will be assuming her duties as secretary on December 31.
- Umang Narula, UT-cadre IAS officer from the 1989-batch, who is currently serving as adviser to Ladakh lieutenant governor, has now been appointed secretary of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. Narula will be taking over from Gudey Srinivas IAS officer from the Odisha cadre, who has been appointed secretary of the National Commission for Schedules Castes, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
- Vivek Bhardwaj  IAS officer from the West Bengal cadre, 1990 batch, will assume his duties as Officer on Special Duties at the Panchayat Raj Ministry, following the retirement of Sunil Kumar on October 31.
- Succeeding S. Aparna, who will be retiring on October 31, IAS officer from the Bihar cadre Arunish Chawla, has been appointed OSD in the Pharmaceuticals Department.
- 1989-batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer Ashish Upadhyaya will replace Rajeev Ranjan as the secretary of the National Commission for Backward Classes. Ranjan and Upadhyaya were in the same batch and cadre, and the former will be retiring on December 31.
- Katikithala Srinivas, IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre from the 1989-batch, has been appointed the secretary of the Minority Affairs Ministry. He is currently serving at Lal Bahadur Shashtri National Academy of Administration as the director.
- VL Kantha Rao, who is currently serving as Additional Secretary, Department of Telecommunication, has been appointed secretary of the Ministry of Mines.
- IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, 1992-batch, Neelam Shammi Rao has been elevated as the Central Provident Fund Commissioner of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation.
- Sanjay Rastogi, IAS officer from the Odisha cadre, will be taking over as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor at the Ministry of Youth Affairs.
- Manipur cadre IAS officer Rakesh Ranjan has been appointed special secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
- IAS officer from the Tamil Nadu cadre, Rajendra Kumar, is now the Director General of the Employee’s State Insurance Corporation.
