New Delhi: IAS Debashree Mukherjee, who had been serving as the Special Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, has now taken charge as the Secretary of the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti.
An IAS officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre from the 1991-batch, she will be taking over from IAS officer Pankaj Kumar, of the Nagaland cadre, 1987-batch. Kumar received superannuation on September 30, 2023.
Previously, Mukherjee has served as the Joint Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office. She has also served as the Chief Managing Director (CMD) of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), and the CEO of Delhi Jal Board and Secretary of Social Welfare and Children and Women’s Development, Government of Delhi.
Mukherjee holds an MA in Linguistics and English from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and an MSc in Water and Environmental Management from Loughborough University.
