New Delhi: RailTel recently established a Center of Excellence (CoE) to secure proficient and skilled personnel in railway signalling. The inauguration of this CoE was carried out by RailTel’s Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Sanjai Kumar, with the presence of functional Directors and other senior RailTel officials.
As per an official statement, the CoE will collaborate with prestigious institutions like IITs and IIMs to provide certification and diploma courses. These courses will include essential Kavach concepts, advanced design of KAVACH’s Station RFID (radio frequency identification) network, Onboard equipment, and Cyber Security.
The CoE will serve as the assessment body for the globally recognised competency certification of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) License, catering to both experienced railway professionals and young engineers. This includes workplace assessments and competency evaluations for the IRSE license.
The CoE will also play a crucial role in research and development in the field of Railway Signalling and Telecommunications, partnering with leading institutions in India and abroad. Rail Edutech Private Limited, an AICTE-approved entity for comprehensive railway training, is the resource partner for the CoE.
Kumar expressed, “Safety is paramount in train operations. The railway signalling is at the forefront of ensuring safe train operations. With the digital transformation of Indian Railways, modern train control and command signalling and telecom systems will be adopted across Indian railways. This centre of excellence reaffirms RailTel’s commitment to advancing safety and innovation in the railway industry. Through cutting-edge training and research initiatives, the CoE will play a crucial role in shaping the future of railway operations in the country.”
