New Delhi: India is engaging in discussions with Brazil for a technological partnership with the aim of advancing the utilisation of ethanol and reducing carbon emissions. Union Minister V K Singh highlighted the extensive experience of Brazil in employing ethanol for vehicles and drew attention to the potential for collaborative learning.
During a recent conference in the national capital, Minister V K Singh expressed the opportunity to develop an ethanol ecosystem by drawing insights from Brazil’s successful utilisation of alcohol-based fuels. He emphasised the importance of raising awareness about alternative fuels to replace fossil fuels.
Singh underlined that, besides sugarcane, ethanol can also be derived from broken rice, maize, and corn. He mentioned the ongoing efforts to explore sustainable aviation fuel, highlighting a recent trial of a flight powered by sustainable aviation fuels.
Kenneth Felix Haczynski da Nobrega, the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil, commended the launch of the Global BioFuel Alliance during India’s G20 presidency. He stated that this initiative marks a groundbreaking step in clean energy, aiming to solidify bio-fuel technology as a crucial option for decarbonising economies.
The ambassador anticipated that the Brazilian Presidency of the G20 would propel the implementation of the Global BioFuel Alliance.
Addressing the green hydrogen mission, Singh affirmed its success in promoting green hydrogen as a viable fuel for various vehicle types. He emphasised the mission’s role in driving a shift in mindset towards alternative fuels.
