As a result, the nature of the workplace is changing. One of the major concerns surrounding AI is the potential for job displacement. Automation and AI-driven technologies may lead to the elimination of specific jobs, raising questions about how society will adapt to these changes and provide alternative employment opportunities.
“When we look at artificial intelligence, we must realise that while definitely there is going to be a shift in the nature of jobs that are going to be impacted, the low-end repetitive jobs may get impacted, but at the same time there is going to be huge demand for additional manpower of people who are going to be skilled in Artificial Intelligence,†Dr Ajay Kumar, Former Union Defence Secretary, said during the 4th APAC India Digital Empowerment Meet and Awards.
It has been widely predicted that jobs like data analysis, coding and software engineering; media jobs like advertising and content creation; paralegals and legal assistants; teaching and graphic designing will all be replaced by AI in the near future.

“A significant disruption to the financial landscape is likely to come from the big tech firms, who will use their enormous customer bases and deep pockets to offer financial products based on big data and artificial intelligence,” Christine Lagarde said during a symposium on financial technology conducted alongside the G20 finance leaders’ meeting in Fukuoka, southern Japan.

Millennials and GenZ, the two generations more accustomed to the digital aspect of customer service, might still sail through automated calls and chatbots. Older generations, however, might find it challenging to navigate through their queries with the lack of human touch.
AI presents a dual-sided challenge, offering immense benefits while raising valid concerns. Striking a balance between harnessing its positive potential and moderating its negative consequences is crucial for the responsible development and deployment of this powerful technology.
