New Delhi: In preparation for Republic Day celebrations, Delhi airport will witness a temporary halt in flight operations from 10:20 am to 12:45 pm daily until January 26, according to an official statement. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has extended existing restrictions, outlined in a revised Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), now impacting all flights during this specified timeframe.
Initially applicable only to non-scheduled flights with exceptions, the updated directive broadens the restrictions to affect both arrivals and departures at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi from January 19 to January 26.
Additionally, from January 19 to January 29, broader airspace limitations will be enforced, specifically for Republic Day events. During January 19-25, non-scheduled operations of scheduled airlines and chartered flights will be prohibited from landing or taking off between 10 am and 1:15 pm. From January 26 to January 29, these restrictions will extend from 6 am to 9 pm.
It’s essential to note that these NOTAM restrictions will not impact the operations of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Border Security Force (BSF), Army aviation helicopters, or state-owned aircraft and helicopters used for transporting Governors or Chief Ministers.
