Mumbai: In preparation for the upcoming General Assembly Elections 2024, Maharashtra’s government has appointed veteran IAS officer S Chockalingam from the 1996 batch as the state’s new chief electoral officer (CEO). He takes over from IAS officer S M Deshpande.
Chockalingam will oversee all election-related tasks for both Assembly and Parliament elections in Maharashtra. His appointment comes with the responsibility of ensuring smooth operations under the overarching supervision of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Prior to this role, Chockalingam served as the Director General (DG) of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration in Pune.
