Cashfree Payments appoints Abhaya Hota as Independent Director

New Delhi: Cashfree Payments has appointed Abhaya Hota has been given additional responsibilities as an independent director. He is the former MD and CEO of NPCI, and a veteran in the Indian banking and payments sector with nearly three decades at the Reserve Bank of India. 

Hota played a crucial role in the implementation of MICR technology in cheque clearing, the launch of UPI, and the introduction of RuPay credit cards during his tenure at NPCI. He also holds independent directorships in Federal Bank, NSE Clearing, Protean e-Gov Technologies, and RBI Innovation Hub. 

Cashfree Payments is an RBI-licensed payment aggregator that processes transactions worth over $80 billion annually, serving more than 600,000 businesses.
