New Delhi: The Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), S Krishnan inaugurated a new indigenous Air Quality Monitoring System (AQ-AIMS) along with the Air-Pravah App. The innovations were developed through MeitY support and aim to provide a cost-effective, “Make-in-India” solution for air quality monitoring.
The AQ-AIMS was developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Kolkata, in collaboration with TeXMIN (ISM, Dhanbad) and JM Envirolab Pvt Ltd. It monitors pollutants like PM 1.0, PM 2.5, PM 10, SO2, NO2, O3, CO, CO2, temperature, and humidity. It has gone through field testing and has been certified by the National Physical Laboratory, Delhi and TUV India, Pune.
The Air-Pravah App, included with the AQ-AIMS system, provides real-time Air Quality Index (AQI) monitoring, including real-time data visualisation, unit conversions, AQI comparisons, multi-device support, data analysis tools, remote monitoring, and automatic updates. The app, to be available on the Android Play Store, can be activated after registering with the unique device ID of the AQ-AIMS device. The inauguration took place on World Environment Day .
