Chandigarh: Following a shift in leadership in important posts, the Chandigarh (UT) Administration has made changes to its administrative structure, reassigning responsibilities to various IAS officers. Anindita Mitra (2007-batch Punjab cadre officer) has assumed the position of Secretary in several departments, such as Urban Planning, Estate/Housing, and Water Resources.
Rajeev Verma (1992-batch AGMUT cadre officer) is currently in charge of Home Affairs and Police/Prisons. In addition, Ajay Chagti (2010-batch AGMUT cadre officer) is now the chair of the Chandigarh Industrial & Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. and the Secretary in the Department of Local Government and Urban Development.
Here is a list of the other officers that were relocated:
- Vinay Pratap Singh (2011-batch Haryana cadre officer) was made Secretary in the Departmnet of Transport, Labour & Empowerment.
- Abhijit Vijay Chaudhary (2012-batch AGMUT cadre officer) was appointed Secretary in the Department of Law & Justice, Environment & Forest, and Special Secretary of Home and Police/Prisons.
- Hargunjit Kaur (2013-batch Punjab cadre officer) was appointed Secretary in the Department of Finance, Treasury & Forest, Planning, Statistics and Engineering.
- Hari Kallikkat (2018-batch AGMUT cadre officer) was given charge of IT, Coordination & Protocol.
The goal of this reallocation was to improve productivity and simplify governance in a number of areas. With a new group of competent officers taking on new responsibilities, the Chandigarh Administration aims to establish an aggressive and flexible governance framework for the area.
