Dispur: National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited, Bongaigaon, has launched a comprehensive cancer care program in the Kokrajhar district of Assam in collaboration with the Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF). The move has come as part of NTPC’s CSR initiatives.
The initiative aims to reach more than 42,000 people across various villages in the district. It focuses on early detection of oral, breast, and cervical cancers through door-to-door screenings by Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), public awareness sessions, and home-based palliative care for cancer patients. This collaboration will help NTPC in realizing its goal of contributing to Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), thereby catering to the health and well-being needs of the communities it serves.
The program was inaugurated by Kabita Deka, ACS, Additional District Commissioner of Kokrajhar, in the presence of Akhilesh Singh, Project Head, NTPC Bongaigaon, Dr. N.K. Singha, Medical Superintendent, ACCF, Haragobinda Boro from the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), and Sangeeta Singh, President of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club.
