Mumbai, May 19 (APAC Media): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presided over the signing and exchange of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the state Energy Department and leading companies for major nuclear power projects across the state.Â
The companies with which the MoUs have been signed include Adani Power Limited, Reliance Industries, and NTPC Ltd.
The agreements were signed at Mantralaya in Mumbai and are expected to significantly boost Maharashtra’s energy infrastructure and employment generation.
The details of the MoU are as follows:
- Adani Power Limited and its Coastal-Maha Atomic Energy Limited signed an MoU for setting up a 6,000 MW nuclear power plant at Barsu in Ratnagiri district. The proposed investment for the project is estimated at Rs. 1.5 lakh crore and is expected to generate around 12,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
- Reliance Industries Ltd. signed an agreement to establish Bharat Small Reactors, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), and other nuclear power reactors at Purnagadh in Ratnagiri district. The proposed project capacity ranges from 2×220 MW to 6×1200 MW, with investments estimated between Rs. 8,000 crore and Rs. 2 lakh crore. The project is expected to create over 1.03 lakh direct and indirect jobs.
- NTPC Ltd. also signed an MoU for a nuclear power plant at Devgad in Sindhudurg district with a proposed capacity of 4,000 MW to 7,200 MW and an investment of Rs. 1 lakh crore.
Senior industry executives and state officials were present during the signing ceremony.
