New Delhi: India Post and Amazon have signed a new agreement to boost parcel delivery services across India. This partnership aims to make e-commerce deliveries smoother by utilizing India Post’s extensive network, which reaches even remote areas.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in New Delhi by Kushal Vashist from India Post and Venkatesh Tiwari from Amazon. This builds on a relationship dating back to 2013, with Amazon already relying on India Post for deliveries. Now, they’re planning to work even closer, focusing on better coordination, sharing resources, and improving logistics.
This collaboration aims to strengthen e-commerce infrastructure by tapping into India Post’s reach and Amazon’s scale. While officials did not go into specifics, they mentioned that the agreement includes exploring new ways to handle logistics, which could also open up more jobs as delivery volumes grow.
For Amazon, this means greater access to customers across India, particularly in underserved areas, while India Post benefits from Amazon’s logistical expertise. Both sides see this as a way to support the country’s booming e-commerce market and, potentially, the economy as well.
The agreement reflects a joint effort to capitalize on India’s rapidly expanding e-commerce sector while expanding reach across the country’s diverse regions.
