New Delhi: Rajiv Ashok is set to become the next Managing Director (MD) of the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC), replacing Rita Hemrajani. His name has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) panel from a list of five candidates who were interviewed by PESB.
Ashok is presently serving as the MD at the North-Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Limited (NERAMAC). He will take on the new role after getting the requisite approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
NHDC is a Schedule B central public sector undertaking (PSU) established in February 1983. The company assists the government in the speedy development of the handloom sector through 7 regional offices and 32 branch offices. It envisions achieving inclusive and sustainable growth of the sector adopting a focused, flexible, and holistic approach.
