Mumbai: The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to set up an advanced skill center in Kandivali, Mumbai. The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance the skilling landscape for Mumbai’s workforce. The center aims to address the growing demand for skilled labor and equip young people with the necessary skills to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving job market.
This newly established vocational training institute features a modern G+5 building with a built-up area of 3440.68 sq.m. The center will initially offer five specialized short-term courses in high-demand sectors such as fashion technology, AC and refrigeration, gaming and animation, quick service restaurants, and data and cyber security. Going forward, the courses will be designed based on industry feedback and evolving workforce needs.
Within six days of its launch, the center has been able to facilitate employment for 700 individuals. Piyush Goyal emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that the state-of-the-art skill development center is dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a skilled and self-reliant India. Over the coming year, the center is anticipated to create job opportunities for 1 lakh candidates across various sectors.
