New Delhi: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is teaming up with Meta to launch an AI-powered assistant and set up five Virtual Reality (VR) training centers across India. These initiatives, part of the Skill India Mission, aim to improve learning on the Skill India Digital (SID) Portal and offer immersive training.
The AI assistant, based on Meta’s open-source Llama model, will be available on the SID Portal, providing 24/7 support in English, Hindi, and Hinglish through WhatsApp. It will help users quickly find course info, explore job listings, and get personalized feedback. The pilot phase, developed by Sarvam AI, will last for six months.
The five new VR Centers of Excellence will open in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Jodhpur, Chennai, and Kanpur. These centers will use VR and Mixed Reality (MR) to create realistic training simulations, giving students a hands-on learning experience.
Officials from MSDE and Meta say the goal is to make advanced tech skills more accessible as India’s digital ecosystem continues to grow.
