Bangalore: SBI Foundation and Villgro have kicked off a new program, “Innovators for Bharat,” offering Rs 6 crore in funding to support 14 agri-tech startups. These startups are tackling issues like post-harvest losses, agricultural waste, and carbon emissions in the agriculture sector.
The selected startups such as Bharat Rohan, Marut Drones, and GreenSupply will receive both financial support and guidance to scale their solutions. SBI Foundation’s MD and CEO Sanjay Prakash emphasized that this initiative aims to boost smallholder farmers’ incomes while making agriculture more sustainable.
The program plans to make a real impact over the next two years by targeting sustainable practices on 60,000 acres of land and preventing 15,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Villgro’s Maithili Rege noted that additional funding is being unlocked through partnerships with groups like NABKISAN to give these startups the resources they need.
By supporting agri-tech startups, the SBI Foundation and Villgro aim to foster innovative solutions that tackle both agricultural and climate challenges in India.
