New Delhi: Zoom has launched its cloud-based service, Zoom Phone, in India, starting with Pune in the Maharashtra telecom circle. The service, which includes local phone numbers and cloud PBX features, is licensed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
The rollout will soon expand to key cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi, aiming to support both multinational companies and local businesses. Zoom Phone integrates with the existing Zoom platform, offering a unified solution for business communication, including inbound and outbound calls through the public telephone network (PSTN).
Zoom received regulatory approval in April 2023 and has since built the required local infrastructure to meet telecom rules. It also brings AI tools to the table, like post-call summaries and voicemail management, which aim to boost efficiency for users.
This move comes as businesses increasingly demand integrated communication platforms. By offering a scalable solution, Zoom hopes to simplify how companies handle voice communications, especially in the growing hybrid work environment in India.
