Hyderabad: Amazon Web Services (AWS) India has inaugurated several community development initiatives in Meerkhanpet village, Kandukur Mandal, Rangareddy district, Telangana. These projects, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for local residents, include a public park, a water purifier system, and renovated buildings for a health sub-center and a self-help group (SHG) resource center. The completed projects were officially handed over to the local community.

Dignitaries Present at the Inauguration
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of key dignitaries such as Telangana MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy; Sergio Loureiro, Vice President of Global Data Center Operations, AWS; Saji P.K., Director of Data Center Operations for the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa regions, AWS; and Aditya Chowdhry, Director of Data Center Operations in India, AWS. The projects were implemented with support from the nonprofit organization SEARCH, reflecting Amazon’s dedication to community empowerment.

Infrastructure for Community Welfare
The public park, developed on land provided by the village Panchayat, features an open gym, a children’s play area, and a jogging track, encouraging healthy lifestyles for all age groups. The RO water purifier system, equipped with an automated dispensing machine, ensures accessible and affordable clean drinking water, reducing the community’s reliance on external vendors.
The health sub-center includes a medical consultation room, an in-patient room for short-term treatments, and an expanded waiting area, significantly improving access to basic healthcare. The renovated SHG resource center offers a large meeting space, two storage rooms, and washrooms, creating an environment for women’s groups to collaborate and engage in entrepreneurial activities.

Additional Development Initiatives
Beyond these projects, Amazon has installed solar streetlights, conducted avenue plantations, and supported education by renovating the Zilla Parishad High School in Meerkhanpet. The company has also established a Think Big Space in the school to promote STEM education.
