Prayagraj: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has integrated its cutting-edge Bhashini platform at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, scheduled from 13 January to 26 February.
This initiative ensures multilingual accessibility, offering real-time translation and voice-enabled assistance in 11 languages, revolutionizing communication for millions of visitors at the world’s largest spiritual gathering.
Digital Lost & Found Solution
A highlight of Bhashini’s deployment is its ‘Digital Lost & Found Solution,’ designed to assist attendees in locating lost items or reporting found belongings. The solution supports voice-based registration in native languages and offers real-time text and voice translation for smooth communication.

- Multilingual Support: Visitors can register lost or found items in their native languages through kiosks or mobile apps.
- Chatbot Assistance: A voice-enabled, multilingual chatbot handles queries and navigational support.
- Police Collaboration: The solution ensures seamless communication between devotees and police officers, simplifying grievance redressal.
Kumbh Sah’AI’yak Chatbot
The Kumbh Sah’AI’yak chatbot, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is another transformative initiative powered by advanced AI technologies like Llama LLM. This voice-enabled, multilingual chatbot provides real-time navigation and information assistance, catering to the diverse linguistic needs of the attendees. Supported by Bhashini, the chatbot offers services in 11 languages, including Hindi, English, and nine other Indian languages, ensuring an inclusive and user-friendly experience.
The chatbot not only aids with directions and queries but also aims to create memorable experiences for pilgrims by simplifying their journey at the Mahakumbh.
Breaking Language Barriers with Helpline
The UP 112 emergency helpline, in collaboration with Bhashini, has adopted the ‘CONVERSE’ feature to address language barriers during the Maha Kumbh. This feature enables seamless communication between devotees and Uttar Pradesh Police officers deployed at the event.
Trained personnel will use the Bhashini app to understand and address grievances from devotees speaking different languages, ensuring efficient and empathetic support.
Technological Innovation for a Seamless Experience
MeitY’s efforts to incorporate Bhashini at Mahakumbh 2025 underscore its commitment to leveraging technology for inclusivity and accessibility. By breaking down language barriers, Bhashini aims to enhance the experience for both domestic and international visitors, ensuring a smooth and enriched spiritual journey for all.
