Chennai: Indian Bank has announced the appointment of Binod Kumar as its new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Kumar brings over three decades of banking experience, marked by his leadership, innovation, and expertise in diverse financial domains.
Prior to joining Indian Bank, Kumar served as the Executive Director of Punjab National Bank (PNB) since November 2022. In this role, he managed key portfolios, including Corporate Banking, Treasury Division, International Banking, Finance, and Data Analytics & Warehousing. His contributions at PNB also encompassed roles such as Chief General Manager (Corporate Credit), Zonal Manager, and CEO of PNB Operations at the Dubai International Financial Centre.
A science graduate, Kumar holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance from the National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM). He is a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certified by GARP (USA), a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), and holds a diploma in Treasury Investment and Risk Management. Additionally, he has completed a leadership development program at IIM Bangalore.
Under his guidance, Indian Bank aims to enhance operational efficiency, drive technological innovation, and strengthen its reputation as a customer-centric institution, both in India and internationally. Kumar’s wealth of experience is expected to play a pivotal role in steering the bank toward sustained growth and excellence.
