New Delhi: India and South Korea have signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation in logistics and infrastructure development. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Korea Transport Institute (KoTI) formalized the partnership in Sejong, South Korea.
Focus on Knowledge Exchange and Technology Adoption
The agreement will facilitate joint efforts to develop infrastructure and logistics master plans under India’s PM GatiShakti National Master Plan. DPIIT’s Logistics Division and KoTI will collaborate on research, technology adoption, and institutional cooperation. The partnership aims to improve logistics efficiency by leveraging South Korea’s expertise in transport planning.
Under the MoU, both sides will hold regular working meetings to exchange insights on master planning, innovation, and the use of Geographic Information System (GIS)-based technology. Training and technical assistance will also be key aspects of the collaboration.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations in Infrastructure Development
By sharing best practices and expertise, the partnership seeks to address logistics challenges and improve connectivity in India. The agreement is expected to support India’s ongoing infrastructure projects and enhance data-driven decision-making in logistics.
The collaboration also aligns with India’s broader efforts to attract global expertise in transport and urban planning. While the immediate focus is on logistics, the partnership could expand into other areas of infrastructure development in the future.
